Goals

The Lawrence + Austin Apartments are a set of 4-story twin new affordable apartments (48 family units today) with supporting amenity functions (library, children’s room, laundry room, lobby, office, bicycle storage) to be designed as 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units per owner’s specific requirements.

Results

Design themes focus on the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, family-oriented design elements within the dwelling units and overall climate resiliency through VRF system and envelope design. Sitting at the edge of Chicago’s city boundaries, the project’s material palette focuses on natural pink and violet tones as a nod to the Illinois prairie sunset, representing a new spirit of affordable apartments in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
