Goals

Latinos Progresando is a non-profit located in Little Village on Chicago’s 18th street. After receiving funding through the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund, the organization has chosen to convert the unused Marshall Square library building into their new net-zero offices and community space.

Results

Alongside the organization, Canopy helped create a vision for fundraising and has recently completed the schematic design phase of the project. The approximately 10,000 SF building will also have space for Latinos Progresando’s community partners, including Esperanza Health Centers who will provide mental health services; event space; and offices to support one of their main missions of immigration legal services. This adaptive reuse project is an example of embracing an existing building within the neighborhood, and once again bringing new life to it.
