Judge Green Apartments

Goals

This Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) project involves the renovation of an existing multi-unit senior housing development located in the Oakland neighborhood of Chicago. Judge Green Apartments was constructed in the 1960’s and is among the key developments in the CHA’s history and Chicago culture.

Results

The focus of the renovations will be dedicated to improving on existing site elements and creating new outdoor amenities, repairing and replacing elements of the building roof and envelope to ensure the longevity and function of the building, updating the building’s MEP systems, and reworking the ground floor public spaces for enhanced living for the building’s residence and workers.

Additionally, Canopy will work on identifying other key areas for improvements, such as adding habitable green roofs and/or reworking underutilized common spaces, to help modernize the 1960’s structure.
