Jackie Robinson Village
Jackie Robinson Village is a mixed-use development that integrates housing, an art gallery, retail spaces, and the Far South offices. Thoughtfully designed to complement the Roseland neighborhood, the project incorporates familiar materials and color palettes while respecting the scale and density of the surrounding urban fabric.
A continuous colonnade at the base serves as a striking architectural feature, transforming into a piece of public art that enhances the streetscape and establishes a distinctive landmark. Above, the light-contrasting, house-like residential units introduce a subtle variation in tones, fostering a sense of individuality and ownership among residents. The design emphasizes a dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a series of gathering spaces that transition from private residential courtyards along the side streets to more public-facing spaces along Halsted Street. The gradual height increase from south to north echoes the Chicago skyline, culminating in the office building at the northern end, which serves as an architectural anchor.
