Housing
Habitat for Humanity Austin Homes
Goals
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the project sought to revitalize the Austin neighborhood by adding affordable single-family homes to the neighborhood. The design prioritizes quality of life, accessibility, and sustainability while remaining attainable for families in need of stable housing.
Results
The resulting 1,800 GSF prototype is a two-story, wood-frame structure featuring four bedrooms and a two-car garage. The design employs a modular, construction-efficient approach to keep costs manageable without compromising livability. To support aging in place, an accessible bedroom is located on the ground floor. Sustainability is addressed through an all-electric mechanical system, eliminating reliance on fossil fuels.
