Maya is a multi-disciplinary architecture professional who believes successful design is rooted in the intersection of equity, sustainability and creative expression. She is fascinated by the power of regenerative design in creating a built environment with healthy, low-carbon bio-based materials and biophilic and healing-centered design powered by renewable energy.  

At Canopy, she is currently focused on projects including the Jizibik Native American affordable housing new construction; Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) shelter adaptive re-use; Saint Leonard’s Ministries Campus Renovation; and co-leads the Green Canopy Group, which prioritizes firm-wide environmental initiatives.
 
She is also a leader of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Illinois Committee. She is involved in Evanston Climate Action – Energy Group, AIA Chicago COTE/2030 Committee and Illinois Green Alliance. She was a selected participant of the AIA Chicago Bridge Leadership Program in 2022-2023.  

Outside of the studio, she enjoys staying active with biking and hiking, admiring art and nature, and spending time with family.
