Project Designer

Mairead Maley

Mairead is a Project Designer from Pittsboro, North Carolina. She studied at the North Carolina State University College of Design in Raleigh and graduated with her Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Design. There she discovered her passion for resilient and sustainable design practices. Her experience studying abroad in the Czech Republic introduced her to a whole new world of architecture. She was and continues to be inspired by both the unique urban fabric of Prague, where medieval and modernity overlap, and by the persistence of its citizens who have lived through massive socio-economic upheaval. After graduating in 2023, she began working in the custom residential/renovation sphere in New Hampshire, where she learned the crucial role that an architect plays between the client and industry professionals.

Mairead moved to Chicago in September 2025 and is still discovering new things to love about the city. In her role at Canopy, she is excited to delve into designing for the public benefit, as she believes architects have a responsibility to provide future generations with spaces to thrive.

When she isn’t furiously designing, you can usually find Mairead jogging around Graceland Cemetery, sketching, or searching for the best lavender latte in a 5-mile radius.
