Habitat For Humanity Building 7 Homes In Austin As Part of ‘Long-Term’ Neighborhood Investment

AUSTIN — More affordable housing is coming to Austin, with a national nonprofit starting work on the first of many homes it hopes to build on the West Side.

Habitat for Humanity Chicago broke ground Monday on seven homes in Austin: three in the 400 block of North Lockwood Avenue and four at 5320 W. Ferdinand St.

Built on lots provided by the Cook County Land Bank Authority and By The Hand Club for Kids, the homes will all be two stories and 1,800 square feet and will include four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two-car garages.
