Spotlight: Neighborhood Development
On June 27th, LISC Chicago hosted the 30th annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards and welcomed more than 700 guests to the recently landmarked Apollo’s 2000 theater in the Little Village neighborhood. The awards recognize the essential role that both non-profit and for-profit developers play in building communities in Chicago-area neighborhoods.
The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Awards for Architectural Excellence in Community Design honor projects that incorporate superior architecture and quality design as part of the development process in new construction and historic preservation. Richard H. Driehaus believed deeply that quality architecture in Chicago’s neighborhoods conveyed dignity and respect for residents, once remarking “Thoughtful design is essential to healthy neighborhoods, well-being, and pride of place.”
The Enlace building received honorable mention.
