Andreea Micu believes in the power of architecture to strengthen communities: working collectively with community, to create inviting and transformative spaces. 

Since joining Canopy in 2017, Andreea has designed and managed a full range of projects from scattered-site development to master planning and new building design including housing, community, and social impact projects; each requiring thorough on-site evaluation, coordination with city and financial departments, community engagement, code research, review, and documentation in addition to design.  Over the years Andreea has grown to serve as one of our firm’s key leaders, shaping firm wide initiatives such as publications, exhibits, and other design and technical initiatives throughout the studio. 

Originally from Romania, later settling in Chicago, Andreea has a passion for architecture that engages social and urban issues. She is registered Architect in Illinois, a member of the American Institute of Architects, is a registered Self-Certification Professional in the City of Chicago, and holds a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) Certification. 

Andreea holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She previously lived in Barcelona where she attended Escola Tecnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Valles. 

Away from the studio, Andreea enjoys baking, taking care of her plants, and spending time with family and friends.
