Ismael Vela received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2019. Ismael shadowed at SOM and interned at Canopy before officially joining the team. Ismael’s primary interests in architecture include equitable and sustainable architecture, landscape architecture, and large-scale projects.

Since joining the Canopy team, Ismael has gained an abundance of design and technical prowess, exhibiting knowledge of city codes, sustainable and accessible practices, and proficiency in the multiple programs used to generate successful projects. As someone passionate about continuously gaining knowledge, he hopes to continue to grow and learn alongside the expertise of his colleagues and sharpen design skills including sketching, modeling, and sustainability expertise along the way.
