Latinos Progresando is a non-profit located in Little Village on Chicago’s 18th street. After receiving funding through the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund, the organization planned to convert the unused Marshall Square library building for their new offices and community space. Alongside the organization, Canopy helped create a vision for fundraising and now has recently completed the schematic design phase of the project.
The approximately 10,000 square foot building will also have space for Latinos Progresando community partners, including Esperanza Health Center, who will provide mental health services; event space; and offices to support one of their main missions of immigration legal services. This adaptive reuse project is an example of embracing an existing building within the neighborhood, and once again, bringing new life to it.
